The Office of the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison has been joined by the new Head of Ministry, Isaac Luthuli effective from 1st of April 2021.
Luthuli (34) was born and bred in Umlazi Township, south of Durban. He holds an Honours and aMaster’s degrees in Social Science (International Relations) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in Pietermaritzburg.
He brings with him wealth of experience as he has held different positions in various organizations which include, UKZN in Pietermaritzburg under the college of Humanities as an Academic Mentor. He then moved to the KZN Department of Education where he worked as a Media Liaison Officer, and has also worked as a Special Projects Coordinator for the Department of Higher Education &Training.
He also worked for Elangeni College as an Academic Coordinator.
Before joining the Department of Transport, Luthuli was the Head of Ministry for the Department of Human Settlement and Public Works.
“In my previous employment as the Head of Ministry, I have worked well with various stakeholders both internally and externally, I believe this will play a major role in my current job which is always hectic as communities are always in need of service delivery, the administration of both departments (Transport and Community Safety &Liaison) also keeps my schedule busy. I am also responsible for managing the MEC’s office and coordinating and aligning the MEC with departmental activities/projects,” said Luthuli.
Luthuli plans to speed up the service delivery by ensuring that all hands are on deck for everyone who is called on duty in his area of work and ensuring proper administration which will help to fast track progress. On changes he intends to implement, he says that he would like to maintain what is good, but he will also add on that by creating a harmonious environment for everyone to always feel happy to serve, because a happy employee always performs to the maximum.
