Mr. Muzi Sithole

Based at both the Pietermaritzburg and Durban offices, the Director: Ministerial Services is responsible for inter-alia, the following:

• Co-ordinate the program and activities of the MEC of Transport, Community Safety and Liaison.
• Ensure co-ordination of parliamentary activities, e.g. the preparation and co-ordination of speeches, interpellations and parliamentary questions.
• Co-ordinate and make preparation for Cabinet and other executive meetings.
• Communicate and liaise for and on behalf of the MEC internally and externally.
• Provide for the security of the MEC both in terms of personnel and material resources.
• Project the good image of the MEC.
• Ensure sustained communication for the MEC within the Department of Transport and the outside world.
• Take full responsibility for the staff in the Office of the MEC.
• Maintain answerability to the community in terms of service delivery.
• Maintain the safety and security of the MEC.
• Devise programs of capacity building for the staff in the Office of the MEC.
• Ensure that the MEC's vision is adhered to.
• Establish and maintain contact with other Directorates within the Department of Transport on parliamentary matters and the Office of the MEC’s relationship with other Departments e.g. Justice, Safety and Security.
• Provide updated information on management systems.
