Mrs Bridget Thandekile Duze
Bridget Thandekile Duze is the Senior Manager: Office of the MEC.
S'thandiwe, as she prefers to be called, holds a B.A Degree and post-graduate diplomas in both Human Resources Management and Education from the University of Natal - Pietermaritzburg campus. She also holds an Honours degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Durban-Westville.
S'thandiwe embarked on her career as a teacher at Msinga High School in 1995, and subsequently worked as a Community Liaison Officer at the Department of Social Welfare and Population Development. In 1997 she joined the KZN Legislature as a researcher to the NCOP Standing Committee. She subsequently, in addition, served as a researcher to the Constitutional Affairs and the Premier's Portfolio committees. She was also responsible for setting up the KwaZulu-Natal National Council of Provinces Office in Cape Town.
She joined the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport in December 2000 as the Parliamentary Liaison Officer, working closely with the then MEC, Mr S'bu Ndebele, who was appointed as Premier of KwaZulu-Natal in April 2004. She was promoted to the rank of Senior Manager in the Office of the MEC Transport, Safety and Security in 2004. She has worked closely with three KwaZulu-Natal MEC’s namely, Mr S’bu Ndelebe (MEC for Transport), Mr Bheki Cele (MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison) and the current MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu.
S’thandiwe is passionate about personal development and growth, and encourages all to be the best they can be. She says “Know yourself first, know who you are and what you want to be in life and where you are going. In this way you will be focused and be the best person you can be whilst adding value to the collective. But do not forget to have fun and do not compromise your happiness.”
In her private capacity, S'thandiwe feels strongly about social responsibility, and serves as a board member at the Coastal KZN FET College Board and the Regent Graduate School of Business Board. She was married in 2003 and was blessed with a son on the 14th of February 2004 and a daughter on 15th March 2007.
