The KZN Department of Transport welcomes its new Head of Department, Mr. Siboniso Mbhele. Mbhele has assumed his new role effective from 02 August 2021.
Mbhele is not new in the Department as he has been the Chief Director for the Durban Region since 2009. There, he was responsible for a number of areas including the Motor Licensing Offices, the provision of the basic transport network to the urban and rural dwellers of the province and the management of the Expanded Public Works Programs in the region.
A seasoned and highly rated transport administrator, Mbhele holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a B. Tech in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
Mbhele has assured all DOT employees that amongst all the challenges they are facing all hope is not lost. “I know that taking this huge responsibility is not going to be easy as this is a very big department. However, I am confident that working together with the management and the staff nothing is impossible. Even though the staff morale is low because of the uncertainty at times but we all have to work together and work smart. We must all be the change that we all want to see,” he said.
