This centre is part of a countrywide initiative by South African Breweries (LTD) to tackle drunk driving in South Africa. The AEC is fitted with the latest equipment to accurately detect a driver’s blood alcohol level through a single breath sample. |

21 April 2009 at KwaNongoma & Ulundi : Official Opening of Victim Friendly Facilities (VFF)
In response to escalating gender based violence and other types of violations against human rights in KwaNongoma and Ulundi, the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr. Bheki Cele will be officially opening and handing over Victim Friendly Facilities to Ulundi and KwaNongoma SAPS on 21 April 2009. These facilities are intended to be used to give much needed assistance and support to victims of assault, rape, domestic violence, etc.

19 April 2009 at D-Section, Ulundi commencing at 09:00 : Official Opening of the Nthethe Bridge
KWAZULU NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr. Bheki Cele, will officially open the Ntethe Bridge on Sunday (19/04/09) at D- Section of uLundi in the Sports ground of uLundi at 09:00.
The opening the first phase of the construction of Ntethe River Bridge was initially requested by a ward councillor in 2006. To date, an estimated cost of R1,7 million has been spent for the project. About 47 job opportunities have been created for locals – 37 males and 10 females. The number of people that will utilize the bridge after completion is huge. This includes S’khalelumuzi Primary School and Insikayendlu High School, a hospital and mobile clinics, a police station, public transport and historical sites etc., will benefit from the bridge. |

KWAZULU NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr. Bheki Cele, KZN will officiate the opening of multiple road infrastructure projects on Saturday, 18 April 2009.
D1273 was upgraded from June 2008 to March 2009 at the estimated cost of R53 million. Dicky Pedestrian Bridge was constructed between April 2006 and November 2007 at approximately R5, 2 million. Zonyama Local Road was constructed between January 2008 and August 2008 at the estimated cost of R18, 5 million. Ezingulubeni Local Road constructed between June 2007 and July 2008 to the total estimated value of R3, 3 million. Main Road P32 was upgraded at approximately R20, 2 million. The total value of these projects is estimated at R100, 2 million. The Department is injecting R5.3 million for the construction of Ezibomvini Road which will be 4, 7 km in length.

KWAZULU NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr. Bheki Cele, will officiate the opening of Mpembeni Bridge P432 at 09:00 near the Bridge on Thursday (02/03/09) at Babanango. The bridge is situated on main road P432, between main road P47 and Babanango and is some 10 km from the intersection with P47. Both approaches to the Mpembeni River Bridge were washed away during a large storm in 2005 and the direct road link between Ulundi and Babanango had been cut. The approaches to the structure had been washed away.
