Procedure When Converting Drivers Licence to the New Card Format

  1. An applicant must be the holder of a valid drivers licence before he can apply to have his/her drivers licence converted to the new card format.

  2. The applicant needs to come in personally to the test centre, together with a valid identity document, 2 photographs and the prescribed fee (Kindly check with your Drivers Licence Testing Centre for the fee and any penalties that may apply).

  3. On arrival at the Drivers Licence Testing Centre, the applicant needs to complete a DL1 application form, then undertake an eye test and have his/her fingerprints taken before his/her application can be processed.

  4. The applicant is notified via the post when his/her card has arrived and they are required to bring a valid identity document, temporary identity document or a valid driving licence card to uplift their drivers licence card.

  5. Lost or stolen driving licence card requirements:
    - You need an affidavit from a Police Station;
    - 2 ID size photographs;
    - Prescribed fee and cost of penalities, which can be determined from your nearest Drivers Licence Testing Centre.
