What do we do?

Choice numbers sell, market and process all applications throughout KwaZulu-Natal in respect of:

  • The purchase of Personalised and Specific Licence Numbers.
  • The transfer of Personalised Licence Numbers.
  • The re-allocation of Specific Licence Numbers that have been paid for.
  • The re-allocation of system generated licence numbers that have not been paid for, subject to the timeous application (30 working days).
  • The re-allocation of licence numbers allocated to stolen vehicles.

subject to an annual increase.
Only bank guaranteed or bank / building society drawn cheques will be accepted for payments of R1000-00 or more. Cheques are to be made payable to KWAZULU-NATAL TRANSPORT – REVENUE

Payments may be made by cheque, credit card, postal order and cash at the Provincial Office (Pietermaritzburg) or appropriate Registering Authority.

Q What is a Provincial Personalised Licence Number?
A A Provincial Personalised Licence Number Plate is a number plate consisting of green characters on a white background, or black characters on a white background for public passenger carrying vehicles for reward purposes (taxis). The combination of numbers /letters shall not exceed 7 characters, and shall be followed by a hyphen and the letters ZN with the wording KwaZulu-Natal in small print at the bottom of the plate.

Q What is a Specific Licence Number?
A A Specific Licence Number Plate is a number plate consisting of blue characters on a white background. These are system-generated numbers consisting of the registration area mark, followed by a combination of numbers.

A Yes, if you purchase a Personalised Licence Number and it remains in your name.
 
Q Do I have to pay licence fees annually for Personalised Licence Numbers and Specific Licence Numbers?

Q Can I transfer my Licence Plate to another vehicle?
A Yes, providing that the owner does not change.
 
Q Are the costs of the number plates included in the Price?
A Provincial Personalised Licence Number Plates (YES)

Q How to replace a damaged/lost/stolen Personalized Licence Number plate?
A You can contact the manufacturer (Uniplate) on 031 5696660 to order a new plate, or you can contact Choice Numbers for the procedures if you require the plate to be delivered to you.
