DRIVER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has once again facilitated the hosting of the provincial leg of the Driver of the Year competition for heavy motor vehicle companies in the Province. The details are as follows:

The aim of this competition is to encourage heavy motor vehicle drivers to accept greater responsibility for road safety, to improve their standard of driving and to create positive spin-offs for the companies who trust their drivers with these valuable assets. It is also to reward companies that have allowed their drivers to participate in the road safety programmes of the Transport Department. The overall winner of this competition will go on to compete in the national finals to be held later this year.

To make these two days colourful and lively, participating companies have been given space to advertise at the venue. Ukhozi FM will also be providing live coverage of this event.

The competition will be conducted in the following three categories:

• Bus
• Articulated
• Rigid
