SCHOLAR PATROL FINAL CHALLENGE
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport will host the provincial
final challenge of its Scholar Patrol Competition at the Queensburgh Civic
Centre tomorrow, Wednesday (16/10/2002) commencing at 10h00.
The aim of this competition is:
- To create awareness of the need for scholar protection amongst
learners, educators, communities and schools;
- To assist pedestrians in crossing the road to and from school; and
- To create responsibility and leadership skills amongst learners in
the community.
Once registered the members are trained and equipment is issued to
assist in the operations.
Finalists in the primary and high school categories from four regions
will compete at the provincial challenge. Scholar patrol teams will
undergo practical and theory evaluations on the day. 18 Primary schools
and 5 High schools will be participating.
