KZN DOT SAYS ZERO TOLERANCE AS USUAL - NO STRIKE
The Department of Transport wishes to assure the public that there will
be no strike as has been reported in some media.
The Head of Transport Department in KZN, Dr Kwazi Mbanjwa, has received
confirmation from two unions, with a combined membership of 97% percent of
all unionised workers in the department, that they have no intention to
strike.
It has to be put on record that the National Public Service Workers
Union (NPSWU) is not recognised within the department as it has a membership
of less than 3 percent.
"Last week, I went on a road show addressing traffic officers across the
province. In these sessions officers were afforded an opportunity to ask
questions on any concerns which they may have had. All officers were happy
and satisfied about the visit."
"In terms of the three posts that are being contested, everything has
been done within the public service regulations and there is nothing
untoward to this."
"It is disappointing that nothing that I said to the journalist was
printed in the news report. This after spending 30 minutes on the phone
speaking to the writer of the story."
