NDEBELE BRINGS SERVICES CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Mr S’bu Ndebele will bring joy to
the lives of hundreds of vehicle owners in northern KwaZulu-Natal when he
officially opens the Kwangwanase Licensing Renewal Agency Office on
Friday, 1 February 2002 at Manguzi Playground, Kwangwanase, Kosi Bay
commencing at 11H30. The vast distances travelled by the people of
Kwangwanase to Ingwavuma, which constituted a round trip of approximately
200km, approximately 60km of which is very rough gravel road necessitated
the opening of a licensing renewal outlet in the Kwangwanase Region.
This service would not only reduce costs incurred by the Kwangwanase
public through travelling long distances in order to gain access to motor
licensing services, but would also provide a convenient, vital service at
their doorstep.
In an effort to speed up the opening of this facility and to ensure
that this service is provided at the least inconvenience to the residents
of this area, representatives from the Department of Transport have had
extensive negotiations with the South African Post Office to act as an
agent on behalf of the Department. After much deliberation, the Department
of Transport finally succeeded in co-opting the services of the
Kwangwanase Post Office in this respect.
The provision of these much-needed services to the people of
Kwangwanase has once again highlighted Minister Ndebele’s commitment to
rural development. The KZN Transport Department is fully committed to
making a difference to the lives of the citizens of this province thereby
upholding the principles of Good Governance and service to the
"People First." The Department has also proudly taken its motor
licensing services to other previously disadvantaged areas such as
Impendle, Nkandla, Bulwer, Nongoma, Ingwavuma, Babanango, Ndwedwe,
Maphumulo, Nqutu and Mkuze.
All media are invited to attend. Please note picture opportunities.
