DEVELOPMENT IMBIZO: 18 - 19 DECEMBER 2003
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, S'bu Ndebele, Deputy President of
South Africa, Jacob Zuma, together with national deputy ministers of
Defence and Minerals & Energy, Nozizwe Madlala-Routlidge and Suzan
Shabangu, accompanied by local MEC's for Health, Agriculture &
Environment, and Public Works, Zweli Mkhize, Dumisani Makhaye and Mike
Mabuyakhulu respectively will be hosting an Imbizo on Development.
As part of the proceedings, MEC Ndebele will open a R2.8 million
bridge, known as Mnweni River Bridge. The Bridge will provide a link and
access to a million people with the following key institutions:
- Clinic at Olivershoek
- Emaosi Hospital
- Gqomu Police Station, and
- Surrounding schools
The Transport MEC will also turn the sod to mark the commencement of
work on Main Road 499, at Kwambonambi, near Empangeni on Friday, 19
December 2003 at 10h00. The road is 12 km long, linking KwaMbonambi and
Dondotha, and the projected amount of money that will be spent to upgrade
and blacktop the road is 14 million rands.

Somtseu Primary School, at 10h00.
Friday, 19 December 2003, at KwaMbonambi
Dondotha Sports Fields, at 10h00.
