OFFICIAL OPENING OF EDENDALE HOSPITAL BRIDGE

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Mr S'bu Ndebele will officially open the Edendale Hospital Bridge next week. The details are as follows:

The Edendale Road in Pietermartizburg is one of the most dangerous roads in KwaZulu-Natal. During March 2002 a survey was conducted on the Situational and Perception Analysis of Accidents and Road Safety on the Edendale Road by the University of Natal Interdisciplinary Accident Research Centre (UNIARC) and several recommendations were made.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has implemented several of these recommendations including addressing the structural problems associated with the Edendale Hospital Bridge and other enforcement and education remedial measures.

Hundreds of people including Councillors, Amakhosi, Community Leaders, representatives from Community Road Safety Councils, Rural Road Transport Forums as well as other stakeholders are expected to attend this event.
