MEC BHEKI CELE CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF A THREE YEAR OLD THROUGH ROAD RAGE
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr. Bheki Cele will at 1pm today, visit the Khanyile family whose three-year old girl was shot and killed in a road rage incident in Durban on Sunday night.
Cele condemns the road rage shooting and wishes to convey his condolences to the bereaved family for the loss of an innocent child, "I appeal to all drivers to be patient and tolerant on the road and to avoid arguments that could lead to road rage and the loss of life. We urge transport companies to conduct workshops on driving behavior and attitude skills".
Initial investigations have revealed that the bus driver was traveling in the fast lane when he decided to suddenly change lanes to pick passengers at a bus stop. The bus subsequently disturbed a car that was traveling in the slow lane. The driver of the Golf had two passengers on board, his wife and three-year old daughter. The drivers' then engaged in an argument, during which the bus driver pulled out a gun and allegedly fired several shots through the driver's window injuring the driver and the three year old child, who died later in hospital.
Cele applauds the arrest of the Mynah bus driver who is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
