MEC CELE TO LAUNCH VICTIMS CHARTER IN EDENDALE

THURSDAY 08 DECEMBER, PLESSISLAER POLICE STATION AT 10 AM

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will officially launch the Victims Charter tomorrow at the Plessislaer Police Station in Edendale at 10 am. This forms part of the activities for the 16 days of activism against the abuse of women and children.

The Victims Charter was issued by the National Department of Justice and Constitutional Development to be adopted by provinces and relevant departments. The Charter is aimed at outlining the rights of victims in South Africa.

Abused victims are expected to be part of the launch. The significance of launching the Victims charter at Plassislaer police station follows the high rate of abuse related cases that have been reported at the police station.

MEC Cele will hand over the Victims Charter to the Area Commissioners who will then distribute to 183 police stations in the province. The charter will be displayed concurrently with the Service Charter in all police stations in the province.
