CELE MAKES INROADS
The MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will
officially open an access road at Mbulelweni near Donnybrook at Sisonke
District Municipality tomorrow (19/01/2005). The ceremony will commence at
10am at Kevelaer Mission.
This R793 000 project has been touted as a beacon of hope for this tiny
village since it will provide access to two primary schools in the area.
The project has also provided 100 employment opportunities to people who
could not put food on the table for their families.
Of the 100 people employed, 61 were women and 39 males. Currently, the
department is planning to incorporate the project under Zibambele road
maintenance programme which will also create more employment opportunities
for women.
It is also envisaged that the project will also bring about other much
needed services in the area such as electricity and telecommunication
facilities. This community has always been bypassed by such services due
to lack of proper roads infrastructure.
ARRIVE ALIVE STATISTICS
The national Department of Transport through Arrive Alive has
officially released the national road accident statistics. On Thursday
(20/01/2004) at 7:30am MEC Cele and the Head of Department Dr Kwazi
Mbanjwa will be hosting a media breakfast briefing at Hilton Hotel where
he will be providing a provincial perspective of the statistics.
