MEC CELE WILL ATTEND ROAD SAFETY PRAYER DAY IN MEMORY OF 28 KIDS VICTIMS WHO WERE KILLED IN A HORROR BUS CRASH

Sunday 20 November - Osizweni Stadium in Newcastle at 10 am


KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will attend Siyabakhumbula Road Prayer Day in memory of 28 children who were killed a horror bus accident in Newcastle in 1998 and many other accidents victims in Newcastle and surroundings. The prayer day will be held on Sunday the 20th of November at Osizweni Stadium in Newcastle at 10h00 am.

The Department of Transport is mandated to create a safe environment through the reduction of road crashes by beefing up traffic law enforcement and pushing forward the message of road safety. The prayer day will be attended by different churches and different religious denominations to commemorate the lives of the road accident victims.

It is the Department's intention to consolidate the relationship with the civil society institutions and in particular to focus on securing the support of all religious leaders in KwaZulu-Natal to ensure that the culture of road safety becomes everybody's responsibility.
