RADEBE TO WRAP-UP OCTOBER TRANSPORT MONTH WITH A BANG
Durban: Transport Minister Radebe and MEC Cele will wrap-up the
October Transport Month in style with a hectic day in KwaZulu-Natal
province, on Friday 28 October 2005.
The Ministerial delegation will begin the day from the Minister’s
hometown, Kwa-Mashu, with the train-ride from the Kwa-Mashu station to
the Durban station in order to observe gaps and improvement areas in the
rail service.
On arrival at Durban station, the Minister and MEC Cele will launch the
refurbished 10m5 rail coaches as part of the R 2.7 billion government
investments to improve passenger rail operations and infrastructure.
The delegation will leave Durban Station for Rossburgh Driver Testing
Station for the launch of the very first High-Tech Computerised Driver
Certification Centre in South Africa. As part of the Road to Safety
Strategy, the centre is now designed to curb corruption in the issuing
of learners and drivers licences.
The Minister will end his day at the Durban International Convention
Centre with the address to the Second Annual Maritime Achievers Awards
Ceremony to honour the contribution of the Maritime Industry in the
economic growth. The entire events are taking place on Friday 28 October
