ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE TRIBUNAL FINDINGS ON STANGER AND MAPHUMULO SAGA,
TUESDAY 30 AUGUST 2005 AT BLUE WATERS HOTEL IN DURBAN AT 12 PM
KwaZulu-Natal Transport CEO Dr. Kwazi Mbanjwa will host a Media
Briefing tomorrow at 12pm at Blue Waters Hotel to announce the findings
of the Tribunal, which was appointed and tasked to investigate the
conflict between the Stanger and Maphumulo Taxi Associations.
The Tribunal was also tasked to present a ruling which can put an end to
the violence which has lasted for decades killing innocent passengers,
drivers and taxi owners. This follows many efforts by the department in
trying to resolve the ongoing violence in Stanger and KwaMaphumulo.
This led to the decision by the Taxi Registrar to close down operations
of the Stanger and Maphumulo Taxi associations in the province with
effect from Monday, 8th August 2005 pending the outcome of the Special
Tribunal.
