HANDING OVER OF 20 SHANELA VEHICLES
Head of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport Dr. Kwazi Mbanjwa
will hand over 20 new high powered vehicles to the Department's Public
Transport Enforcement Unit (Shanela) on Monday (5 June 2006) at the
Traffic Training College, Prince Alfred Street, Pietermaritzburg.
A media briefing will also be held at 10h00 at the Traffic Training
College.
The new vehicles will serve as replacement vehicles for the PTEU. These
vehicles are all high powered with 3.2 cylinder engines and are also
ballistically protected.
Unlike other vehicles, they are also fitted with anti-smash and grab
side windows, concealed police blue lights as well as a second battery
which can be immediately activated in the event of the vehicle not
starting during an emergency.
