FOUR FAMILY MEMBERS KILLED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION
KZN Head of Department of Transport Dr Kwazi Mbanjwa is over-whelmed
by yet another horrifying accident that happened today (02/06/2006),
which claimed the lives of four family members.
The accident involved a Datson station wagon car carrying four family
members and a truck carrying a load of bricks. All the occupants of
Datson (two children and two adults) died instantly.
The Datson was traveling from Umlaas Road towards Eston on the R603 near
the national chicken farm and lost control on the bend and collided with
the oncoming truck. The Jaws of Life had to be used to remove the
occupants from the station wagon. The occupants of the truck did not
sustain any injuries.
“I appeal to all motorists to please obey the rules of the road to avoid
such accidents in the future. I also appeal to all road users to
tolerate one another in order that everybody have a safe trip.” said
Mbanjwa.
Four cases of culpable homicide will be opened and the SAPS will be
investigating further. The truck was taken to Mkondeni for testing.
