TESTING CENTRE FRAUDSTERS ARRESTED
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has welcomed the conviction
and sentencing of GAP Testing Centre owner and two of the examiners.
Mr. Arthur Phillip Bryant who is the owner, was sentenced 16 years in
prison and 6 years was suspended for five years. Mr. Alan Richard Brown
and Mr. Sulraj Heeralall who are examiners were both sentenced to three
years of which two years were suspended for five years. They were
convicted for issuing fraudulent roadworthy certificates to unroadworthy
vehicles.
Mr. Arthur Phillip Bryant also owns shares in the 60 Smith Street
Building in Durban. His shares were seized to cover his debt of R2 million
owed to the South African Receiver of Revenue (SARS).
