MEC CELE WILL OFFICIATE THE OPENING OF QOLOQOLO ROAD IN UMZUMBE
FRIDAY 17 FEBRUARY 2006, JOZI CRECHE -UMZUMBE AT 10AM
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Communtiy Safety and Liaison Mr.
Bheki Cele will conduct the official Opening of Qoloqolo road in Umzumbe
in the South Coast. The event will be held on Friday 17 February 2006 AT
Jozi Crèche Umzumbe at 10am.
The 5km stretch Qoloqolo Road project serves a local community, a Crèche
and small holdings for emerging sugar cane farmers. The 908 000 project
has created 20 part time jobs for locals. Apart from this, 14 Zibambele
Contractors have been employed on this road and a total of 33 Zibambele
Contractors are presently working in the bigger Qoloqolo area.
The communities in the area have hailed the project as a success.
Previously the road was in an extremely bad condition, especially during
the rainy season. It had no gravel wearing course and it was impossible
for the communities to move around.
