MEC CELE TO HOST MEMORIAL FOR 13 PEOPLE KILLED IN A HORROR BUS CRASH

KwaZulu- Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr.
Bheki Cele will attend a memorial service for 13 People killed in a
horror bus crash that happened on Saturday 11/02/06 at Lufafa outside
Ixopo.
Preliminary investigation have revealed that the bus lost control and
went down the 300m embankment killing 10 people instantly whilst others
sustained serious injuries. Three people died later in hospital. The bus
was carrying 80 passengers on board travelling from Highflats to Ixopo
for a government function.
The memorial service is also expected to be attended by MEC for
Education Ina Cronje and MEC for Social Welfare and population
development Inkosi Nyanga Ngubane. The memorial will also be attended by
the members of the Transport Portfolio Committee. Cele is expected to
give details of the report on the technical investigation that was
conducted to assess the roadworthiness of the Bus.
