KZN PREMIER SBU NDEBELE AND MEC CELE WILL LAUNCH A MULTI-MILLION PROJECT OF ALL PEDESTRIAN BRIGDES IN KZN AND THE OPENING OF ENYOKENI ROAD-KWANONGOMA

THURSDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2006, FALAZA SCHOOL (OSUTHU) AT 10:00 AM

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sbu Ndebele and MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will attend the launch of a Multi-Million project of all the pedestrian bridges in the province. The event will be three-fold as it also includes the official opening of D1820 Enyokeni road and the Sod Turning of Isikhwebezi Bridge.

The KwaZulu-Natal Cabinet through Provincial Treasury has allocated R 85 Million towards the construction of pedestrian bridges and access roads across the province.

It was Saturday 23 October 2004 when a group of people from Nongoma staged a major sabotage towards a government function that was attended by four Members of the Executive Council (MEC’s) of the Provincial Cabinet.

Addressing a tense public meeting on that day MEC Cele promised to come back with more service delivery projects at Kwa Nongoma and surroundings and said "As the MEC responsible for safety in the province I want to send a very strong message especially to the bunch of ill disciplined and unruly crowd that this province will no longer have any no-go areas".

"Furthermore my department will continue defending the weak and change the lives of the people of the province including all those who are very much against service delivery as the government of the day strives towards redressing the past imbalances and build a KwaZulu Natal that truly belongs to all" Cele concluded.

The event is expected to be graced by the presence of His Majesty the King.
