HEAVEN CAN WAIT – KEEP TO THE RULES OF THE ROAD
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki
Cele has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of
four learners who were killed at a horror crash over the weekend after
attending a Matric dance at Mariannridge Secondary school.
“The death of young people is indeed a great loss in our society at
large. In this particular accident we lost unique talent and skills, we
lost our future accountants, engineers and doctors. South Africa is
currently importing individuals with unique skills from other countries
hence it is imperative for South Africa to groom young talent in order
to meet all challenges ahead” said Cele.
“As we are approaching the festive season I urge all drivers and
pedestrians to be more cautious on our roads and behave responsibly.
Buckle up and don’t drink and drive/walk. Seatbelt use is essential on
every journey, no matter how short or how slow you go. Promote the use
of designated drivers particularly when attending parties and social
events - Road Safety is everybody’s responsibility” Cele concluded.
