MEC CELE SHOWCASES SERVICE DELIVERY PROJECTS AROUND ETHEKWINI

SUNDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2006, M SECTION HALL – UMLAZI AT 10 AM

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will visit Umlazi and Dassenhoek on Sunday 26 February as part of the “Defending the weak” projects.

MEC Cele will officially open the pedestrian bridge crossing over railway line at Umlazi M section and thereafter proceed to the SOD Turning of M10 Pedestrian Bridge and MNR Taxi Rank at Umlazi. The above projects have been requested by the community and their existence will improve the lives of ordinary people particularly children.


SUNDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2006, IZWELIBOMVU SPORTS GROUND (Near KwaNdengezi-Pinetown) at 12 pm

At 12pm MEC will proceed to a road opening of P489 at Izwelibomvu outside Pinetown. Main road P489 which 11.2 km form parts of the provincial access roads programme and is one of the huge infrastructure projects in the area with a total budget of R 13. 7 Million.

The road construction has created employment opportunities to the local people particularly youth. After the construction of P489 communities around Izwelibomvu have been able to access basis services including clinics and schools.
