MEC CELE ADDRESSES UMLAZI COUNCILLORS ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS FOLLOWING THE BURNING OF 59 BUSES

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki
Cele will address councillors of Umlazi on the latest developments
following the burning down of 59 Buses in Umlazi on the early hours of
Sunday 23/04/06.
The meeting will be held at the constituency office in Umlazi Centre at
16h00 pm today. Cele is responding to the councillors’ request on the
matter as they feel their involvement is crucial since they are at the
critical point of service delivery.
On Sunday evening MEC Cele, Transport officials, City management, Police
Investigative Unit and Remant Alton management convened an urgent
meeting in Durban where they discussed among other issues shortage of
transportation in Umlazi. A team of Specialised Investigators from the
SAPS in Pretoria were expected to start working on the investigation
yesterday on Monday 24/04/06. Cele is expected to give a detailed report
this afternoon at:
