MEC CELE WILL JOIN A BUS CAMPAIGN TO STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki
Cele will attend a campaign to stop violence against women. This is a
national campaign that seeks to address all issues relating to the well
being of women. The campaign will begin with a convoy for Awareness
Drive through the CBD.
The convoy will start at Durban Christian Centre ( West Street) with all
other participating partners and will arrive at the Warwick Triangle at
10h30 am for the endorsement of the bus campaign.
Amongst other things the purpose of the gathering is to mobilise the
communities to support the campaign against women abuse even beyond the
“16 Days of Activism”.
Cele will address members of the public and representatives from Non
Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) on issues relating to the promotion
of women in holding the state accountable by assisting women to call on
the government to improve implementation of the Domestic Violence Act,
as well as bring into effect the Sexual Offences Bill which was first
mooted in 1998.
