The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, the Honourable Mr. T.W. Mchunu welcomes you to the Province of KwaZulu-Natal this festive season.

The festive season is synonymous with increased activity and festivities as locals, visitors and tourists traverse the length and breadth of the province. It is also a period with unacceptably high levels of deviant driver behaviour which contributes to the high levels of road carnage. The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport would therefore like to remind you that this is a Zero Tolerance Province.

Our advice to you is to:

as we will show you

because

Avoid driver fatigue on long journeys. Make sure you have plenty of sleep before a long drive. Take regular breaks by stopping, getting out of the vehicle and taking a short walk or stopping for refreshments. Plan to stay overnight somewhere on long drives or share the driving with a travelling companion. Take extra care driving between midnight and 6 am since your body is most at risk from fatigue during these hours

Above all else, do not speed. We reiterate

Remember that

There will be no mercy shown to any traffic offender during this festive season. All personnel will be made available during this period to ensure support for intensified law enforcement initiatives and they have been given strict instructions to penalise all those who do not comply with traffic rules.

You are urged to report any traffic offence or emergency to our MPIMPA Hotline 086 221 10 10, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may also report these offences via our Mpimpa Online right here on our website.
