Road Safety should be close to all our hearts. After all, it concerns the protection of our most precious gift - our very life.

The KwaZulu Department of Transport, in an effort to reduce death and injury on our roads, has compiled this website. Its main intention is to help people develop a better road sense whether you are a driver, pedestrian or passenger. It could be your shield when death stares you in the face.

But the important point to remember always is that road safety is not only the government’s responsibility. It is a matter that must concern all of us, all of the time.

The website has been divided into four sections: the childhood years; the young adult years; the senior years and a general section. It covers subjects such as teaching children road safety, road rage, vehicle hijacking and what older drivers should know.

Teachers and parents can also use the information to help develop sound road sense in children.

Click on the links on your left to get to the section you want. From each section you can get to various subjects.

In the meantime, share the road safely. And stay alert and stay alive!
