Taking Care of Pets on the Road

Do not walk your dog unless it is restrained on a short lead because it may run into traffic and cause an accident.

If you have an animal in the car, make sure it is restrained so that It cannot distract the driver or cause injury if there is an accident. Always put a leash on to the animal before getting out of a car.

If you have to leave your pet in the car for any period of time, make sure it has sufficient fresh air by leaving your windows open. It must also have water to drink. Even on a cool day your vehicle can get extremely hot and cause the animal to dehydrate or even die.
