Traffic And Transport Information Gathering Unit

• The purpose of the component is to render traffic intelligence services by proactively detecting elements of threats and criminal activities and suitably informing relevant stakeholders inclusive of the MEC.

Functions

• Proactively detect elements of threats and criminal activities
• Follow up on leads in uncovering fraud and criminal activity.
• Deal with areas of conflict, crime & fraud in a pro-active manner.
• Conduct safety & security assessment with regard to public transport
• Gather information that will inform and advise the other directorates appropriately
• Liaise with SAPS, NIA and other intelligence bodies
• Compilation of comprehensive reports to inform and advise the MEC on the state of the
• Province on transport matters
