SIX PEOPLE KILLED AFTER MINIBUS-TAXI PLOUGHS INTO TUCK SHOP
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Mr S'bu Ndebele, has expressed shock at the unnecessary loss of lives after six people were killed and thirteen others seriously injured when a minibus-taxi left the road and ploughed into a tuck shop at approximately 12h30 today.

It is alleged that the driver of the minibus-taxi, which was travelling on the M25 near Inanda towards Durban city centre, veered out of control and ploughed into a near-by tuck shop, after being hit by a horse and trailer travelling in the same direction.

The horse and trailer came to a stop after it overturned about seven kilometers away from the scene of the crash. The trailer of the articulated truck was found to be unlicensed for the current year. Both drivers were seriously injured. An accident expert from the Durban Collision Unit has been tasked to examine both vehicles to determine their roadworthy condition. The SAPS are investigating six counts of culpable homicide in this matter.

The injured were rushed to various hospitals in and around Durban. Minister Ndebele has expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of those killed and has pledged his continued fight against lawlessness on our roads.
