DOT STAFF MEMBER DIES IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT

KwaZulu-Natal Premier S’bu Ndebele together with Transport, Safety and Security MEC Bheki Cele have expressed their condolences on the bereavement of Clement Mtshali who died in a tragic accident last night, while on the way to Dundee.

Mr Mtshali, who worked for the Department of Transport, died while traveling with a colleague, Xolani Ndlovu, who sustained serious injuries and is in a critical but stable condition at the King Edward Hospital.

Premier Ndebele described Mr Mtshali’s death as tragic and a big loss for his family and the department. Premier Ndebele worked with Mr Mtshali during his terms of office as MEC for Transport.

"This is a great loss for Clements’s family and equally to his colleagues who worked with him. Our prayers are with the Mtshali family," said Premier Ndebele.

To the family of Mr Ndlovu, the Premier said his prayers were with them, and extended his own family’s support to Mr Ndlovu.

Transport MEC Bheki Cele said Mtshali has been a hard working young man who had a big future ahead of him. "This is a severe loss for all of us," said Mr Cele.

Mtshali is survived by nearly wedded wife Pele and nine months old baby Bandile.
