MEC TO HAND OVER R10 000 TO SCHOOL PUPIL’S FAMILYKwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Safety and Security Mr. Bheki Cele will tomorrow (8/06/2004) had over R10 000 to the family of seventeen-year-old Slindile Khuzwayo who was killed in a cross-fire between police and robbers last Wednesday. It is alleged that Slindile Khuzwayo, who was a grade 12 pupil at Ganges High School, had just alighted from a bus in Umlazi when a bullet hit her in the neck, killing her instantly. She had steeped into the middle of a car-chase and shoot-out between police and hijackers, which had started in Jacobs, Durban. Cele visited the Khuzwayo family last Friday and assured the family that whoever is to blame for the killing will be punished. He also assured the family that he would dig into his own pocket and contribute towards the funeral costs. All media are invited to accompany MEC Cele to the Khuzwayo family home in W Section, Umlazi south of Durban at 8am tomorrow.
