HEAVY REHABILITATION ROAD WORKS ON MAIN ROAD 1-1 (M13) FIELDS HILL ON
THE WEST & EAST BOUND CARRIAGEWAYS FROM 19H00 ON SUNDAY 5TH
SEPTEMBER TO 05H00 ON THURSDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2004
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport wishes to inform the general
public of rehabilitation road works on the M13 Fields Hill between Old
Main Road/Richmond Road Interchange and Wyebank/Village Road Interchange
on both West & East bound carriageways which commenced on 5th
September until 23rd September 2004.
The rehabilitation process (asphalt deep milling and asphalt overlay
surfacing) will be undertaken during the night commencing at 19H00 and
ending by 05H00, thus providing the least disruption to traffic. Traffic
will be accommodated during this period through restricted demarcated
lanes. The intention is to have no road works during daytime and weekends.
All road users are requested to drive with extreme caution and ensure
awareness of heavy construction machinery and equipment that will be used
during the rehabilitation period.
Previously, problem areas were identified on Fields Hill and were
rehabilitated during the 2003/4 financial year during night operations.
This proved very successful, particularly for the motoring public
frequently utilizing Fields Hill.
The KZN Transport Department apologizes for any inconvenience caused to
the public and for the unfortunate construction noise during the
rehabilitation period and requests your co-operation with the traffic
control measures when using this route.
For further information and enquiries please contact the Office of the
Regional Director: Durban on (031) 700 2222.
