DEATH OF DR. ABDULLAH OMAR
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Mr. S'bu Ndebele has expressed his
condolences to the family and relatives of the National Minister of
Transport, Dr. Abdullah Omar who died early this morning after a long
illness.
"Dullah as he was fondly known was not only a personal friend and
comrade but a highly respected politician, lawyer and a man of integrity.
He successfully served our country as Cabinet Minister in two important
portfolios since 1994, which saw much transformation during his term of
office. He stood and fought till the very end. Even in prison Dullah
fought for his comrades. He was fair-minded and will not rest until the
work was finished," Ndebele said.
"He was highly regarded for his diplomacy and charisma. He was
also a respected human rights lawyer who gave his life unselfishly to
aiding the transformation to democracy in our country. His commitment and
contribution to the people of South Africa will forever be
remembered," said Ndebele.
Ndebele is currently on his way to attend the funeral in Cape Town.
