JOINT OPERATION ROADBLOCK

A major multi-disciplinary, multi-jurisdictional roadblock is to be held at the Marianhill Toll Plaza on Friday, 16th January 2004 from 12h00 to 20h00, in support of Arrive Alive and in time for the opening of schools in the province.

The purpose of this major roadblock is to clearly demonstrate to the public at large, that all law enforcement agencies and security services are united against recklessness, irresponsible behaviour and dangerous drivers.

Other departments that will be at this block are Camera Office Remcom Unit, SANDF, Customs, Home Affairs, Vehicle Theft Unit, as well as SAPS Collision Unit.

The operation will further show that we are determined to jointly tackle the problem of unroadworthy, unlicensed motor vehicles, overloaded vehicles and unlicensed drivers, as well as vehicle theft.
