MEC FOR TRANSPORT, COMMUNITY SAFETY AND LIAISON LAUNCHES SUMMER HOLIDAY ROAD SAFETY PLAN

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will be unveiling a summer holiday road safety plan at Umtentweni Toll Plaza in Portshepston on Friday (November 19, 2004) at 9am.

The launch will be preceded by a multidisciplinary road block led by MEC Cele and involving various security agencies at the Umtentweni Plaza. Similar road blocks will be conducted throughout the province during the festive season with a view to reduce road carnage.

As part of the campaign, on Sunday Cele and the Head of Transport Dr. Kwazi Mbanjwa will be addressing an interfaith prayer gathering in Port Shepstone – Marburg sSadium and also in Pietermaritzburg – Royal Showgrounds at 10am where religious leaders from different faiths will be praying for a safe holiday season.
