16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM OF NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr. Bheki Cele will be hosting a function of 16 Days of Activism of No Violence Against Women where he will be addressing all female staff from both departments including SAPS, RTI, METRO POLICE, even the ZIBAMBELE women and also the Pietermaritzburg traffic police.

The function, which will be the first of its kind in the province, will take place on Friday (26/11/2004) at the Royal Show grounds, Olympia Hall in Pietermaritzburg at 10am.

On Sunday (28/11/2004), Cele will be addressing a Road Safety interfaith prayer gathering in Ladysmith at Settlers park and in Durban at Carries Fountain where religious leaders from different faiths will be praying for a safe summer holiday season.

Both events will commence at 10am.

Meanwhile, Cele has urged members of the public who will be attending the Izimbizo by the Deputy President Jacob Zuma in Jolivet near Ixopo and Nkandla not to bring any form of weapons in these gatherings including traditional weapons.

This call by Cele comes after scores of people who were armed to teeth invaded a similar gathering in KwaNongoma last month.
