MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR 8 CRASH VICTIMS (MANDENI)
MEC Bheki Cele will on Thursday, 28 November (10 am) attend a
memorial service at Mandeni near Sibusisiwe hall for eight people killed
in a horror bus crash on the P53 road between Vryheid and Dundee last
Saturday.
The bus was carrying about 70 passengers on board traveling from a
wedding in Madadeni and returning to Mandeni when it overturned, instantly
killing eight people.
Initial investigations have revealed that heavy rains caused water
patches on the road resulting in the driver loosing control.
Most of the deceased are members of the Zulu family that was hosting a
wedding. The driver has been charged with 8 counts of culpable homicide.
The bus has been impounded and technical investigations are being
conducted.
The memorial service will also be attended by the Head of Department,
Dr. Kwazi Mbanjwa and the members of the KZN legislature’s Transport
Portfolio Committee.
